ORFC 2027 7 – 8 Jan
In this interactive session, we’ll explore how agricultural histories can inform a sustainable future and why museums often fall short of this potential. Despite holding rich farming and food collections, museums are rarely seen by farmers or community growers as spaces for their stories. Why is that, and how might this change? Using collections as a starting point, we’ll examine whose knowledge is represented or missing, and how museums can embrace lived, local, and Indigenous knowledges to support debates on agroecology and regenerative farming. Join us to help shape future work at the Museum of English Rural Life, University of Reading, and History of Science Museum, University of Oxford.
