ORFC 2027 7 – 8 Jan
Apart from ORFC, January can be a depressing, long month. To combat this, a community in Dorset (Chettle) started a Wassail in 2022 combining songs, costume making, cider drinking and nature connection — the perfect reason to come together during the darkest months. In 2023 they got grant funding and made a film about it. ‘How to Wassail’ is about waking up the fruit trees, thanking them for future harvests and having a party in an orchard. It is about deepening connection to land and celebration. This session gives insights into why and how the community created this evolving ‘ritual’, what happens in a Wassail, and how you can create your own. The session includes props, costume, a short film, and songs.
