What’s Stopping the Transition to More Localised Agroecological Farming Systems?

The ORFC is full of great initiatives demonstrating agroecology and nature-friendly farming in action. But at a national and global level,
progress is still too slow and we need to understand why. Come to learn about and discuss research commissioned by the Soil Association as part of the Transition to Agroecology project, looking at the national and farm-level impacts of the shift to an agroecological food and farming system – on farmers, on natural capital and on the economy. We will hear from farmers and researchers on attitudes to agroecology, and how to encourage more people to join the movement. There will also be a look at how the transition might play out for farmers in low-income countries and the risks posed by trade deals. What policy changes could shift the dial to improve the speed of the agroecological transition?
