Getting to the Conference
By train: The main train station is Oxford Railway Station.Â
By liftshare: A self-organising liftshare spreadsheet is included in the ticket order confirmation email and will also be included in emails to delegates. We encourage delegates to use the ORFC 2024 liftshare spreadsheet to travel to the conference in groups. If you are planning to drive to ORFC make sure to coordinate with other delegates and offer lifts to people in your area so you don’t have an empty car.Â
By bus: The main bus station is Oxford Bus Station (Gloucester Green). For information on travelling within Oxford by bus, please visit the Oxfordshire County website. You can also view bus timetables here.
By car: We recommend you use the Park & Ride or leave your vehicle at your accommodation if possible. If you plan on parking in Oxford, you can browse city centre parking. However, please be aware that parking in the city is difficult and there is no parking easily available near the venues. You can also look at the Town Hall website for detailed information on how to get there.Â
Oxford has implemented bus-only lanes and gates, and only buses and taxis are permitted on the High Street from 7:30am – 6:30pm. Details are available on the Oxfordshire County Council site, including this interactive map to view the restricted streets. Please check these carefully to avoid being fined.
If you are driving and have extra space, please consider offering a lift to other delegates en route using the liftshare spreadsheet included in the ticket order confirmation email.
Accommodation
Delegates are encouraged to book accommodation as early as possible to secure the best rates. A self-organising accommodation sharing spreadsheet is included in the ticket order confirmation email (on the second tab of the liftshare spreadsheet) and will also be included in emails to delegates.Â
Bed and breakfast accommodation may be found through bedandbreakfasts.co.uk (please note you will need to adjust the dates).
During vacation periods, colleges often open dorm room accommodation to visitors for booking. Dorm room accommodation in central Oxford may be found through University Rooms.
Short Let Space is offering a 5% discount to ORFC delegates using the promo code OXFC5. This code is valid for stays between 07/01/2025 – 12/01/2025 with a minimum of 3 nights stay in their Oxford city centre properties. To make a booking, please contact their booking team on 01993 222 200 or stay@shortletspace.co.uk and add the promo code OXFC5 into the email.
We have also partnered with one of our venues, Jesus College, to offer bed and breakfast accommodation in Oxford city centre. Accommodation is simple but convenient and an easy 5-minute walk from Oxford Town Hall. Please note parking is not available on-site.
To book accommodation directly through Jesus College:
- Go to the accommodation page.
- Scroll to the bottom and choose Bed and breakfast bookings +
- Enter the promotion code: KX66797
- Select the arrival and departure date (availability runs from 07/01/2025 up to 11/01/2025) and press Search.
- Choose the room type that you would like to book.
- Book and pay for the rooms.
- Once booked, Jesus College will add you to the accommodation list and allocate the appropriate accommodation.
Troubleshooting:
- Please note that the rooms will show only when the code has been entered into the promotions box.
- You will need to add an arrival and departure date within the booking (07/01/2025 up to 11/01/2025). Dates selected outside this window will not be recognised.
Food and Drink
This year, our key social space is in the Oxford Town Hall Main Hall, which will be the place for tea and coffee, food and drink, exhibition stalls and networking throughout the conference.Â
There will be food stalls serving evening dinners and a bar serving delicious brews on Wednesday 8th and Thursday 9th January. There will also be excellent lunches available for purchase on Thursday 9th and Friday 10th.
Below is a list of local recommendations for food and drink. We also recommend checking out the Independent Oxford Map to find great independent coffee shops, cafés, restaurants and bars.
Please note we do not provide disposable cups for tea and coffee. If you need a reusable mug, you can purchase one of our ORFC mugs or tumblers at the conference from Registration in the Wesley Memorial Church or information desk in the Oxford Town Hall.
Online Conference
All in-person tickets include full access to the online conference. Details on how to join the online conference will be sent to all delegates nearer the event.Â
Please note access to the online conference is linked to your email address. If you need to update your registered email address, please contact caitlin@orfc.org.uk by Thursday, 5th December 2024.
Transferring your ticket
If you would like to transfer your in-person or online ticket to another attendee, please contact caitlin@orfc.org.uk no later than Thursday, 5th December 2024.
Accessibility
All venues are fully accessible, except for the Blue Room in St Aldate’s Tavern, which unfortunately does not have lift access. Hearing loops are available in the Main Hall, Assembly Room and Old Library (Town Hall), Speakers Hall (Wesley Memorial Church), Cheng Building and Ship Street (Jesus College), The Sanctuary (St Columba’s) and in the Woodshed (Story Museum).Â
Delegates with accessible needs are entitled to a free carer ticket for one personal assistant/carer who accompanies any delegate with access needs. All delegates except for the carer require a purchased ticket. Please contact caitlin@orfc.org.uk to request a carer ticket by Thursday, 5th December 2024.
If there is anything we can help with, please contact info@orfc.org.uk.
Childcare
Childcare is available in the Story Museum for children ages 3+ on both days. Childcare spaces are available through the ticketing page for £35 per child (plus booking fee). Childcare is subsidised by ORFC to support parents in attending the conference; however, if the fee is still a barrier to attending, please do get in touch at caitlin@orfc.org.uk.Â
The deadline to book childcare is Thursday, 19th December 2024. Spaces are limited, so book early to guarantee your spot.
