Want to share about your work, and make connections with others doing similar things?

Submit a session to the Justice Strand at Oxford Real Farming Conference!

What is the Justice Strand at ORFC?

  • The Justice Strand is a programme of work within the Oxford Real Farming Conference that invites those from marginalised perspectives to connect, share knowledge and empower each other.
  • The Justice Strand holds space within the ORFC for deepening the agroecology movement’s connection to those who are most systematically oppressed, recognising their central role in creating food and land systems which liberate us all.
  • The programme is made up of exploratory workshops, panel discussions and grassroots strategising, and all sessions are selected from an open submissions process.
  • It is hosted by Shared AssetsLand in Our Names and Solidarity Across Land Trades (SALT).

Previous sessions in the justice strand have explored: land access, reparations, abolition, health justice, racial justice, queer liberation, neurodiversity, alternative economies, migration, workers’ rights, anti-oppression and more. Check out last year’s programme here.

If your work connects with any of these issues, we want to hear from you.

How to Submit a Justice Strand Session

Submit a session, or attend one of our submissions surgeries to ask any questions about your submission idea or the conference.

SUBMISSION DEADLINE: Thursday, 16 April 2026 at 12pm BST (midday)

Conference dates: Thursday 7th & Friday 8th January 2027

Justice Strand submission support surgeries:

Submit a session here using our submissions form, and indicate that you are applying for the Justice Strand. (Any session you submit will also be considered for the wider conference.) More information is available in the form about the process and timeline.

Speaker Tickets and Funding

The conference has a wide audience, whose access to resources is varied. Our speakers make up around one quarter of the attendees at the conference. We therefore have a hybrid approach to speakers’ conference tickets and funding.

To ensure that no-one is prevented from speaking at the conference due to lack of access to resources, the Justice Strand has a dedicated budget. For justice strand speakers we can cover, if needed, any or all of the following costs:

  • Your conference ticket
  • Your transport costs (advance off-peak economy class train fare, or 45p/mile for gas up to 100 miles and 25p/mile thereafter) – delegates are encouraged to use the train or carpool where possible)
  • Your accommodation costs up to £120 a night (two nights in Oxford, can be booked by ORFC team).

Any costs must be agreed in advance with the justice strand programme coordinator. If your session is selected, please indicate as soon as possible, and before Thursday 8th October 2026, if you will need funding to attend the conference. Free tickets can be allocated by the ORFC team. Other expenses must be purchased by the speaker, and will be reimbursed as soon as possible on a rolling basis. Unfortunately we are not able to provide expenses for food.

If you are able to fund yourself, please do! ORFC always asks everyone who attends the conference and can afford to pay for their ticket to do so, regardless of whether they are a speaker or a delegate

The programme is a collective endeavour, and one-quarter of delegates contribute to the conference as speakers or facilitators. This means it is only possible to keep ticket prices relatively low when the speakers who can afford to pay do so. ORFC is part of a charity and ticket sales ensure ORFC can happen each year while maintaining strong principles about where funding is accepted so the conference can maintain its radical edge. If your session is selected, we will direct you to where you can buy a ticket.

There are several streams of support which all conference speakers and delegates can access:

  • Subsidised tickets (these are released with general tickets in September — please book early, as numbers are limited).
  • A lift share and accommodation share spreadsheet to help with cost sharing (will be shared with all ticket-holders).
  • Bursaries, which can cover a ticket, accommodation and travel expenses. Bursary applications open at midday BST on the 4th of June 2026, and close on Thursday, 3rd September 2026 (these are limited and not guaranteed).

If these provisions do not meet your needs, please contact the programme team no later than  Wednesday, 30th September 2026 to discuss other options for financial support (This will not affect whether your submission gets accepted.)
