Could pulses grown in the North of England become a celebrated source of local menus? Nutrient dense, locally grown, pulses should be a significant part of a culturally appropriate planetary plate for the North of England yet appropriate production, processing and knowledge of how to work with them from farm to fork is limited. This interactive workshop will hear from a range of projects exploring local histories, public procurement and the on-farm experience. Join us to explore the concept of localised agroecological production in the North, shortened supply chains, the traditional role of pulse in the Northern food and farming systems, and how to rediscover our lost pulse heritage!
