Any vision for food justice in the UK must have the global workers’ struggle at its heart. UK supermarkets and food corporations’ control and extract huge profits from global supply chains. At every point in the supply chain, from precarious agricultural labourers on mega-farms in Morocco to migrant workers in Kent, through distribution to supermarket retail, and hospitality, workers are exploited. We must continue work to integrate the spheres of food workers’ and food sovereignty struggles, building solidarity action and a connecting vision.
