The future of food is reliant on viable seed. The adaptability of open pollinated crops is well documented, but the majority of seed preservation is conducted through a seed bank model, storing it in a cold store or freezer. To what extent do we need to scale up community seed saving initiatives, so seed can adapt to rapidly changing climate conditions by being regularly sown? How can professional and amateur growers work better side-by-side to ensure better choice for future generations? And is there a disconnect between seed security and food security at policy level?
