Growing Place was a 3-year project which explored how infrastructure for both urban and rural growing sites can be created in a way that aligns with agroecological principles. This project saw Material Cultures engage with Black Rootz and Wolves Lane Centre to co-design and build an adaptable, replicable building typology. The result is Harvest House, a building that can be constructed from regionally available materials, with simple tools and minimal skill. Growing Place defined a working model for how to build using materials from the land, involving the community at every step, and distributing the knowledge and practices developed in the process.
