Beyond The Prison Fence: Linking Land Justice, Food Growing And Abolition

This session opens with a short film about Paradise Cooperative, a community garden situated on prison land, next to HMP Wandsworth. The film explores the history of the garden and its ongoing exploration of values, belonging, and what ‘community’ means in the shadow of a prison. The following panel and Q&A session will open up wider questions, including what are the connections between land justice and abolition? What role can community organising and food production play? How can we better understand the ways in which the incarceration apparatus leverages power over land and food systems? What alternative models of justice, care and sustainability can community-led growing spaces offer?
