The Conscious Food Systems Alliance (CoFSA), convened by UNDP, is a movement of food, agriculture, and consciousness practitioners united around a common goal: to support people from across food and agriculture systems to cultivate the inner capacities that activate systemic change and regeneration. The Conscious Food Systems Alliance (CoFSA) builds on the understanding that an increased sense of connection to ourselves, others and nature as well as related cognitive, emotional and relational qualities such as self-awareness and presence, emotional awareness, capacity to listen deeply, empathy, openness, creativity, and resilience hold the key to deeper and more long-lasting change towards regenerative food systems. CoFSA applies consciousness practices, which integrate the consideration and cultivation of inner capacities into interventions, across all levels. Consciousness practice can leverage certain practices which actively support the cultivation of inner capacities. These consciousness practices include a vast range of contemplative mind-body practices, often rooted in a variety of wisdom-based traditions (e.g., nature connection and mindfulness), as well as psychological and cognitive-behavioural based practices (e.g., self-reflection and-inquiry practices), transformative spaces and communication practices (e.g., deep listening and Non-violent Communication), and transformative education and leadership practices (e.g., experiential learning). CoFSA has started to frame a new narrative on food systems transformation highlighting the complementary role of inner capacities and consciousness practices, in particular through its Manifesto and its Rationale for Action Report. It has built a community of more than 350 members dedicated to this agenda, and a movement of more than 3 thousand people following this work.
