BUY LESS, BUY BETTER, BY SAIL!
We bring together a network of small producers, beautiful sailing ships and passionate allies to deliver the most delicious goods from across the oceans, emission-free.
Last year, sailing ship Gallant arrived in Falmouth with a cargo of olive oil, olives, honey, almonds, beans, peas & wine from Portugal, salt from the island of Noirmoutier and coffee, chocolate & panela from across the Atlantic Ocean.
We are building Voyage Coops to connect farmers, ships and allies in a human to human chain that extends our local food networks across borders and over oceans.
Through our products & events we are invigorating a new maritime culture around sail-powered cargo ships, the goods they carry & the communities they connect. Our journey is a symbolic one to re-enchant a culture around the stuff we make, trade and consume.
Creating a sustainable economy for sailing cargo ships is our biggest challenge. Our ships, like the olive trees, demand our patience, loyalty and love. They ask us to be human and not ‘consumer’.
We run a pre-order and collect model so that the cost of the voyage is shared amongst many, reducing the financial risk. By collecting from the ship the onward distribution and storage needs are also shared and reduced. And by buying in bulk to last you a season or to share with family and friends, you shorten your weekly supermarket list and help reduce packaging waste.
All together we are filling the ship’s hold with delicious treasures from small, family run farms. By the time the ship is sailing, every port arrival is like a homecoming.
