LION aims to disrupt oppressive land dynamics relating to BPOC communities in Britain. We address land justice as a centre point for issues around food insecurity, health inequalities, environmental injustice & widespread disconnect from the living planet. Land rights are the basis for revolution and sovereignty in our communities. We are working to transform the narrative around land in Britain in how it relates to intersections of race, gender and class for systemic change. We made our ORFC debut in 2020 with our “Farming so White” session, alongside last year’s keynote speaker, Leah Penniman (co-founder of Soul Fire Farm & author of Farming While Black). We also hosted the post-ORFC 2020 caucus for black people and people of colour at the family-run, halal & tayib Willowbrook Farm in Oxfordshire.
