Sustainable patterns of farming and healthy lifestyles mean our national diet must inevitably change. Increasingly, protein crops will play an important part in our weekly shop, but how well will tomorrow’s farmers be placed to take advantage of these opportunities? Meeting the challenge will require a collaborative effort, involving those involved in research, plant breeding, innovative crop husbandry and market development. This is an opportunity to learn about the progress being made and some of the barriers that need to be overcome from those at the vanguard of this pioneering work.
